About me:

My name is Masoud Lotfalipour. I am a master’s student in Cognitive Science at the Institute for Cognitive and Brain Sciences at Shahid Beheshti University. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy from Shahid Beheshti University, where I developed a strong foundation in critical thinking and analytical skills that I now apply to my studies in cognitive science. My research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular interest in dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and aging. I have experience in neuroimaging techniques, including fMRI and MRI, which allow me to explore the structural and functional aspects of the brain. Additionally, I am skilled in systematic review methodology and meta-analytic techniques, which enable me to synthesize and analyze existing research effectively. My work also involves investigating functional and structural connectivity within the brain to better understand the underlying mechanisms of these conditions. In addition to my research, I am currently mentoring two research teams in the fields of neuroimaging, neuroscience, and cognitive sciences. My experience includes teaching and training researchers, as well as managing research projects. Looking forward, the research will expand on imaging techniques, particularly MRI and fMRI, while exploring additional methods such as Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI). The aim is to develop models related to effective connectivity to enhance understanding of neural interactions. A longitudinal study will be conducted on functional connectivity changes, integrating imaging techniques with biomarkers and utilizing advanced pattern recognition algorithms to contribute to the early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s, through interdisciplinary approaches. Also, one of my key research interests is to analyze brain functionality through the framework of complex systems, aiming to uncover the intricate relationships and dynamics that govern neural processes.
